Meet
Sam, the SeaPup™
WhaleTimes' Student
Advisor
Hey Kids, Jake, the SeaDog here. I wanted to introduce you to
Sam, the SeaPup™. Sam is our new student advisor. She is 10-years old and... she has developed a love of all animals from the chickadees out her window to the hagfish in the deep-sea!
Sam, What is your
favorite animal? I have many favorite animals, but I have to say dogs are my
most favorite.

When did you first get interested in the ocean?
Well when I first went to the beach when I was 4 I saw a whole bunch of
crabs, fish, and I saw a killer whale.
What is one of
your favorite ocean animal? I love
vaquitas because they are
beautiful animals. They are so graceful.
What's your most
amazing experience with an ocean animal or at the ocean?
My first time
at the beach, I saw a newborn killer whale and its mother! And I love
playing in the surf.
What is the
coolest animal you've seen?
The coolest animal I’ve seen is a seal lion.
What are two things do you do in your home or school to help the
environment? At home I follow the 3 “R”s (reduce, reuse, and recycle). At school I am in
the Green Team. We go around our school and recycle all the paper, water
bottles, and other recyclables.
Sam, I understand you are a big part of Fintastic Friday. Tell us about that...
Fintastic Friday is
a day to celebrate the sharks. Over a course of time we want to raise money and
donate it to scientists who study them so they can use that money to save the
sharks. My friend and I set up a lemonade stand and raised $30 in one day!
What are you hoping to goal as WhaleTimes Student Advisor?
I hope to teach kids, parents, and teachers about saving the sharks
and why. My goal is to get at lest 150 kids to sign up for
Fintastic Friday.
Why is
Fintastic
Friday so important to you?
Fintastic Friday is important to me because I want to make a difference and
I want to be a voice for the sharks so they have a chance to survive.
By the way, what
is your favorite kind of shark?
My favorite ocean
animal is got to be a mako shark. I love their big black eye.
What were you most surprised to discover about sharks? I was most surprise to discover how they have many rows of teeth.
Keep up with my latest by reading my blog....
