Hagfish Haiku Writer's Page
Part of WhaleTimes Neverending WhaleTale

Do you have a hagfish haiku to share? What about one about our other Hagfish Day beauties: the hagfish, barreleye fish, hooded seal, right whale, or the Stauroteuthis. And, don't forget last year's stars...vaquita, goblin shark, blob fish, toad lumpsucker. Share it with us.

How do you write a Haiku? Traditionally, haiku is a 3 line non-rhyming poem, each line has a set number of syllables. Here is an example:

Line 1:    Beauty of ugly                          (5 syllables)
Line 2:    Vaquita, hagfish, and more      (7 syllables)
Line 3:    Protect ocean friends             (5 syllables)

                                             By Jake, the SeaDog

This is a quick example. You should take your time, have fun, and use extraordinary adverbs, adjectives, and imagery to express your feelings about your favorite Hagfish Day Stars!

Use the form below to submit your haiku. Just choose an animal, write your haiku (*remember do not rhyme). Fill out the form below to share it with us. (We have kept past Hagfish Day stars on the list, too. Just in case any of them inspired your poem.)

NOTE: The only information we need is your poem. Your name and hometown are NOT REQUIRED for us to post your poem. If provided, we note your name/hometown with your poem. Concerns? Check out our *Privacy Policy
