Seals and walruses do not have external ear flaps. Sea lions and fur seals have ear flaps. |

Seals have short flippers with noticeable claws. Sea lions, fur seals, and walruses have longer flippers. |

| 9. | On land, sea lions, fur seals, and walruses can rotate their hips underneath their bodies, so they can crawl. Seals cannot, so they bounce or undulate on their bellies to move across beaches. | ||

The largest pinniped is a southern elephant seal. The oddest might be a hooded seal. The leopard seal is just one kind of pinniped that eats penguins. |
