Scientific name:  Eudyptes robustus


Snares Island penguins can be 25 inches tall.  They can weigh 7 pounds.

 

All penguins are only found in the Southern Hemisphere. These penguins are found south of New Zealand on, you guessed it, Snares Island. 

Penguins eat a variety fish, squid and krill.

Snares Island penguins are one of the crested penguins.  There are an estimated 23,250 breeding pairs.  They are listed as "vulnerable" by the IUCN because of limited breeding area.

Penguins in the forest? Snares Island penguins breed in the forest or in shaded vegetation.
